Notice to all GPAA Members. We are having a problems with trash: cans, bottles, tinfoil, non burnable items, being in campfires. Reminder: GPAA Member's Camping Rules are: Maxium stay of camping is 14 days, with a minimum of 14 days between stays. THE SWANK CLAIM The Swank Claim is located on Gatton Rocks and Cutnaw Rd. in Beliville, Ohio. It covers approximately 1 mile of the Clear Fork river on the upper claim and 1 mile of Clear Fork River on the lower claim. This claim is known for burgundy colored garnets and fine flour gold. This claim has also produced, two quartz rocks with gold nuggets layered in them. One valued at $50,000. This claim has shelter house with picnic tables, and is easily assessable. Allocate your funds in your prospecting personal budget accordingly. There is also a porta-john there in the summer months. Primitive camping is allowed for up to 14 days for any GPAA member. *Please remember these are leased sites. Please be respectful of the landowners crops that are near by. Makes sure campfires are contained and extinguished properly. And remember if you pack it in, pack it out. when they are mining on any of the GPAA claims. You must
also have a valid membership card. Visitors are always
welcome but must be accompanied by a member. If you are
interested in checking out one of the claims we would be
glad to have you visit during one of our monthly meetings.
We will show you how to pan and you can ask as many
questions as you want. FRAZEE CLAIM This is the newest of the Ohio claims. Reports are that it is similar to the Swank claim with plenty of fine gold. DIRECTIONS: From Mt. Vernon, take US36 east 12.9 miles to SR715, bear left for .7 miles. Turn right on CR36, Zuck Rd., travel .87 miles to Staats Rd. bridge. From I-77 take US36 west 57 miles to SR715, turn hard right. Travel .7 miles, turn right on CR36, Zuck Rd., proceed .87 miles to Staats Rd. bridge. It provides a large area to work the bigger. dredges, and covers quite a bit of shore line. The Lewis Claim is forming their own chapter and draws crowds from Kentucky, Virginia, as well as Ohio.
